10 Steps to Optimize Your Pinterest Profile for Business

So you have a business or you have a blog you want to turn into a business.

You know that more traffic = more business = more opportunities for growth and income.

You know you need to gain more traffic and want to utilize Pinterest to help market your business, but don’t know where to begin.

Well, I am here to go over the first 10 simple steps you need to take to optimize your Pinterest profile to gain free organic traffic from this incredible visual search engine.

#1 Make Sure you have a Business Account for your Pinterest

Doing so will allow you to drive traffic to your website.

A Business Account will allow Pinterest to see you as an official business owner as well as a contributor with higher authority and therefore will share more of your content.

You will also have access to rich pins which allows you to include more information on your pins to stand out to your audience, making it easier for them to connect to your website and become a customer.

With a Business Pinterest Account, you will also have access to Pinterest Analytics and data that will help you understand your audience as well as what pins and boards are doing well or not to better market yourself.

If you already have a personal Pinterest account, you can easily convert it to a Business Account by clicking the drop-down arrow in the upper right-hand side, click settings, click account settings, scroll down and you will see the option to convert to a Business Account.

#2 Locate Keywords/Keyphrases to Optimize your Profile

To help the chances of your Pinterest Profile and Pins being found by your optimal audience, you want to make sure to include keywords and keyphrases.

Do your research ahead of time and see what keywords and key phrases related to your content and services have high traffic volume.

My favorite way to look for keywords is through the ads tab.

See the images below to help guide you.

#3 Add a Profile Photo and Banner that Resembles you and your Business

Be sure to add a Profile picture of yourself, your Business Logo, or a picture related to the business and services you are providing to make it easy for people to recognize and remember you.

Make sure to have the image on your website as well to increase your branding awareness to your audience.

Please see the images below as an example.

#4 Add a Display Name

Your Display Name should be your name or your business name to make it easy for people to find you on Pinterest.

#5 Make your username the name of your Business

#6 Include main keywords/keyphrases in your “About Your Profile” Section

Try to choose keywords that have lower competition.

You can find this out by typing your keyword/keyphrase into search and look at the number of accounts (people) that pop up under your keyword.

The more accounts under the keyword, the higher the competition will be to rank for it.

#7 Include your Website URL

Let your audience know where they can connect with your business.

#8 Include a Professional Business Email Address

Having a professional business email address is an easy way to make your business look more official and reputable to your target audience.

#9 Add your Business Phone Number (OPTIONAL)

#10 Add your Business Address if you Have a Retail Location

YOU'RE DONE!

Congrats, you just optimized your Business Pinterest Profile and are one step closer to gaining more traffic to your business and/or blog.
